Labor of Love:

  • A total of 48 hours were spent at a computer shop, downloading photos onto sheets for inkjet printers.

  • Approximately 176 hours were devoted to assembling and sewing the quilt together.

  • Images were donated by HHPF founders, the dedicated prolotherapy, veins and ENT teams in Honduras and Mexico: physicians, volunteer staff and patients.  Included are our transportation manager, Chet Hermansen, in charge of our medical container designated for Honduras, our vein doctors serving in Honduras and Mexico, along with our generous volunteers. Cheers to our EMT team, doctors, and nurses working at D'Antoni Hospital in La Ceiba, Honduras.

  • Lastly, we remember the great doctors who pioneered service in Honduras, Mexico, and the world.

Message from the quilt designer, Elizabeth Mini:

Evolution of the quilt: “I want to express my gratitude to the Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation for giving me a wonderful family. Creating this memory quilt was a fantastic opportunity to give back to our auction. I sourced fabrics, and my daughter-in-law mailed quilt fabric to Julie Olson in Wisconsin. Julie then delivered it to Honduras in 2022 as part of our mission. My daughter-in-law once again sent fabric to my niece in Gurnee, IL, who delivered it to Ajijic, Mexico in June 2023. After finishing the quilt, my nursing friend, Danny, here in Mexico, drove to Dallas, Texas, and took it across the border to mail it to my friend Pat Barry in Florida. Pat quilted it on her long-arm quilting machine and, after quilting and binding, sent it to Julie again in Barneveld, Wisconsin. The quilt's joyful arrival date was September 13, 2023.
